Season’s Warning!!

It was 4F degrees when the picture was taken
Winter is the great season to take your dogs to long trails! A couple of things you may want to keep in mind….
Beware of road salts! If you need to be on the road to get to the trails, be careful of those salts on the road. They will burn the dog’s paw, and it is not safe for the dog to lick. It is a good idea to have a packet of wipes (you know those used for babies) and wipe off your dog’s paws before putting her/him in the crate so that s/he cannot lick the salt off his/her paws on the way back home.
For a snowy long trail walk, you may want to invest in a product such as Musher’s Secret (Bee’s wax) to protect his/her paws.
Always bring a supply of clean fresh water for you and your dog!
It is pretty dry during the winter in the northeast. Give omega-3 and -6 to your dog so that s/he will not develop the itchy dry skin! Occasionally apply Organic virgin coconut oil (not refined) on their paws. It is absorbed so quickly that you really do not need to worru about the dreasy paw marks on the floor. Coconut oil is also great on your dry skin and it smells great!
Even in the coldest day, inside the car can get pretty hot in the direct sun light. Make sure to check up on your dogs in the car if you leave them in the car during shopping, eatinng, or whatever you are doing!
There are people who use canine jackets and there are people who do not. It is up to you. I like to put the jacket on the dogs when it is very windy and cold just to cut the wind.
We have another 2 months of winter. So make the best of it! We will complain how hot it is pretty soon!!
